Working Dead
About the Game
The apocalypse didn't cancel your shift.
Working Dead is a first-person supermarket simulator you can play solo or in online co-op with up to three friends. You're the human staff of a store selling zombie meat to zombie customers. Prepare the merchandise, manage the business and try to finish your shift without getting bitten.
Get bitten. Keep working.
Give your customers some space. Get too close or hit one with a flying product, and you may end up being chased through the aisles.
A bite turns you into a zombie: the customers leave you alone, but your teammates hear gibberish instead of words and you can no longer operate the checkout. Keep preparing, restocking and cleaning, or use the antidote to return to human duties. Being undead doesn't get you out of work.
From zombie bodies to bestsellers
Buy inert zombie bodies from your supplier. Use the saw to separate heads and hands, or feed whole bodies or remaining parts into the grinder for brains, eyes and other organs. Decide what goes straight onto the shelves and what becomes an ingredient for another product.
One store. Three ways to sell.
Ring up in-store purchases, serve the drive-thru and prepare online orders for couriers to collect. Handle cash and card payments at the registers while keeping all three channels supplied from the same stock.
There are no fixed jobs. Pass products to a friend, point out what needs attention and use proximity voice chat or the store's PA system to ask for help. Just make sure the person calling for backup can still form a sentence.
Even the mess is merchandise
The green blood on the floor isn't just something to clean. Mop it up and recover the liquid. Bottle it as blood soda, make blood ice pops or combine it with eyes or hands to produce preserves. Your cleaning equipment is part of the production line.
Keep the sales floor tidy: even zombies can turn their noses up at a dirty store.
Make the store your own
Set prices, react to a changing market and take on optional daily contracts. Reinvest in machines, shelving, refrigeration and decorations, then expand into neighboring spaces. Watch for shoplifters and keep the electricity bills paid: an ambitious production line still needs power.
Customize your employee, save your store and come back for the next shift. Your stock, equipment and progress carry over between days.
