Wings Simulator
About the Game
Wings Simulator is coming to Steam
Wings has been around since 2020, with thousands of pilots flying it from all around the world. We've been selling it direct from our own website all that time, and now we're bringing it to Steam.
Large, detailed environments
There's over 1600 acres to fly over across 6 maps. Flitetest's Edgewater golf course in beautiful 3D detail, a rural airstrip, a university campus built for FPV, a farm, an indoor sporting complex, and The Void for your creativity.
Get down low between the buildings, head off past the treeline and follow the creek, or climb up until you reach the clouds. Every one of the environments is built in full 3D. Fly it line of sight or FPV. It's the same world either way.
Real planes from the brands you already fly
Many of the planes in Wings is modeled on something you can go and buy or build, and we work with the companies who make them to ensure that they not only look accurate but they fly just like the real thing.
FliteTest, Kraken, Simple Scout, Mighty Mini Mustang, Corsair, Bloody Baron, Jenny, Retro Rocket and the RV12-iS
Team BlackSheep, Caipirinha II and Chupito
Strix, Nano Goblin and Stratosurfer
TBRC Wings, Reflex and Warlock
Video Aerial Systems, Wyvern, Wraith and the FPVWRA Spec Wing
Team Legit, 5D2
Wind Catcher RC, Gladiator
There are trainers, 3D foamies and gliders in there too, along with a few unusual ones we couldn't resist. The Wright Flyer, the Burnelli CBY-3 Loadmaster and the Transavia PL-12 Airtruk.
All 32 aircraft are included and they're all there from the start. It's also a handy way to try a plane out before you commit to buying the kit.
Set your plane up the way you like it
The plane customizer lets you change the colors and add decals, so the one you fly in Wings can match the one sitting in the back of your car.
You can also set expo, rates, throws and CG for each plane. Which means you can find out what a tail heavy setup actually feels like without finding out the hard way on a maiden flight.
Or just go for a fly
Most of the time you don't need a reason. You just want to fly something.
Take a glider up over the ridge. Learn a roll without wrecking something you spent three weeks building. Practice a landing forty times in a row and it costs you nothing. Put the goggles on and go exploring. Some pilots connect their goggles to their computer via HDMI for the authentic FPV experience.
Wings is a good way to keep your real plane in one piece through its first season, and it's a good way to spend a wet Sunday afternoon.
Racing
There are 67 race courses in Wings. They were designed by the same person who lays out the courses wing racers compete on, and a number of them are recreations of real competition tracks, including the first wing race ever flown in a stadium.
The FPVWRA Spec Wing is in here too, and so are a lot of the pilots who race it.
The Track Builder that comes with the sim is the same tool those courses were designed in. Build your own, fly it, and put it online for other people to race. We have many tracks designed by our community for you to enjoy.
If you run events, you can build the course in Wings and hand it to your pilots weeks beforehand. Everyone turns up already knowing the line, and the racing on the day is better for it.
Up to 16 pilots per room
Most of the time people just fly together. Formation passes, chasing each other about, someone talking a mate through their first loop, someone else going too low over the strip. When you want to race, drop the gates in and race.
There's no monthly fee for multiplayer. It's just part of the sim.
Record your flights and edit them
In Wings you can record your flights, and there's a video editor built in so you can turn it into something worth watching. Move the camera around, follow the plane, pick your angles, and keep the pass you only got right once.
Most of us have a phone full of shaky footage we're never going to edit. This is a fair bit easier.
Use the radio you already have
Wings is designed to work with any transmitter you can plug into your computer over USB. Taranis, RadioMaster, DJI, whatever you fly with. Sim controllers work too, including the RealFlight InterLink. If you'd rather use an Xbox or PlayStation controller, that's fine as well.
Dedicated builds for Windows and Linux.
Not sure how it will run on your machine? There's a free FPS Checker on our website that tells you what frame rate you'll get at each quality setting, before you spend anything.
One price
Every map, every course, every aircraft and every mode is included. You buy Wings once and that's it. No subscription and nothing else to buy.
If you already bought Wings from our website, you'll get a Steam key. You've paid for it once already.
Still being worked on
Six years in and we're still building it. What's coming soon:
A deeper aerodynamic model, with Reynolds aware airfoil data, better rudder and sideslip authority, and spin behavior
Wind across the environments
More optimization
More aircraft and more places to fly
We won't give you a date just yet. We'd rather get it right, these improvements take time.
Who makes it
Wings is built by pilots, for pilots.
Kitchen Sink Games is a small Australian company, David Whiddon and Charl Cillié and we fly. The planes are built alongside the companies who make the real ones, and the race courses are designed by David, who has spent years laying out the tracks wing racers compete on, and a fair few hours on the mic commentating the races that ran on them.
Come and say hello
We have a Discord full of pilots swapping tracks, liveries and footage, and we're in there too. Come and join us.
