The Casket Of The Bygone Witch
About the Game
Translation into English
“Do you remember that incident? Almost everyone has heard about something like this from a friend. ‘A student at our school jumped from the rooftop. Maybe they failed an exam, or maybe they were bullied.’ But if you think about it carefully—did that person really exist? What was their name? What class were they in? Did you ever see them? If you press your friend for details, they’ll only say they heard it from someone else too, and they can’t say who that person actually was—as if this person had never existed at all.”
The Casket Of The Bygone Witch is a visual novel featuring horror, supernatural weird tales, suspense, yuri, and other elements.
The perspectives of the two female protagonists switch successively over the course of the game.
The story is set in a fictional world resembling modern Earth and has no connection to real cases or organizations.
The main setting is Qinglan High School.
It was originally a church school founded by overseas Chinese, later converted into a public institution, and is a high school with nearly a century of history.
Its old laboratory building was abandoned due to years of disrepair, yet after it was sealed off, multiple student deaths unexpectedly occurred there.
At some unknown point, a rumor began circulating at the school that the old laboratory building was haunted by a witch’s curse.
The protagonist, Bai Yu, is drawn into the incident after her close friend dies in the abandoned laboratory building from the “curse,” and she begins an investigation centered on the witch.
〖The death of a friend, the witch who stands by and watches, and the truth buried away.〗
This story may contain major character death and supernatural forces that genuinely exist within the story. It is a weird tale rather than a deduction/mystery story.
Possible content warnings (?): The yuri romance line is not the main focus, and there are also occult and religious elements in the narrative.
Author’s Note
After so much preparation, I’m finally able to meet everyone. Although Onuomi Lab sounds like a production team, currently it’s just me. You can call me nuomi or Nuomi…
Graduating with an art degree means unemployment, so I was probably hoping to find a job where I could stay at home and write and draw. Considering my regrettable anatomy and perspective skills and the shrinking domestic comics industry, I decisively abandoned my childhood dream of becoming a manga artist as my first-choice career and turned the story in my head into a visual novel.
When the project first started, I had thoughts of giving up because the workload was much larger than expected, but in the end I stuck with it.
Please be understanding, everyone.
