About the Game

STOP TAKING YOUR MEDS, KILL THE CEO, AVENGE ISAMBARD

Utopium is a top-down brawler set in a drug-addled industrial dystopia. The Factory has consumed the earth and - what's worse - it has killed a pigeon. Avenge him. Refuse your soma, smash your way to the factory's CEO and end his heartless rule.

FLOW STATE COMBAT

Hotline Miami meets billiards: smack the souls out of your enemies with the spirit hammer. Ricochet these souls through the factory and then possess them to appear behind your enemies. Combine soul-ricochet with parries, throws and a grapple-hook hammer, and combat becomes a puzzle you solve at speed.

CHOOSE YOUR REBELLION

Enter the spirit world between levels, hear how its denizens responded to the Factory's iron fist and concrete boot. Shape the uprising by aligning with one of three spirit guides and use their unique boons:

  • Satoshi's biohacked soma: slow your perception of time, play defensively, read the room.

  • Charles' grapple-hammer: hurl yourself into the fray with breakneck aggression - high risk, high reward.

  • Ukko's war bear: a pagan companion who eats souls and holds grudges. Be nice.

Three completely different ways to play, not just stat tweaks.

INSIDE THE FACTORY

The Factory has been here longer than anyone can remember. The workers don't ask questions - why would they, when they've got soma? The dead don't realise they've died, so they keep clocking in. And somewhere in the Factory's rusted bowels, a giant's eye flicks open...

Suddenly, the soma stops working. You notice things - the pigeon at your feet, the banned literature hidden behind lockers, the ghosts who've been trying to talk to you for years.

Take it all in, or batter your way past it. Utopium's storytelling is light-touch by design - skip every word and you're playing a brawler, read it all and you're getting a primer on the philosophy of industrialisation.

Fully voice acted - UK regional cast, northern humour. Soundtrack by Stringer: techno, dub, breakbeats to smash the looms to.

TAKE YOUR SOMA, KILL YOUR MIND

Play the focused campaign that you can finish in a weekend, then enter the flow state in the survival mode. Endless waves, new lore between runs. Stick a podcast on (we won't be offended).
