Unaccounted

Unaccounted

About the Game

In a city in the East that is not on any map you were given.

You are hereby appointed custodian of Habitation Block 17.

The building’s archive has been destroyed by fire, and the landlord with it. The Directorate requires a verified census and a full account of the night of the fire. Every current resident is to be accounted for. The arsonist is to be named.

A complete and accurate report will qualify you and your family for Household Advancement. Qualifying households receive improved accommodation and an increased monthly allowance.

You have five days. You do not ask for more.

Unaccounted is a first-person deduction game set inside one apartment block under totalitarian rule in the 1980s. Explore the Eastern Bloc apartment building, question its residents, and piece together the records lost in the fire.

Follow the evidence through documents, testimony, personal belongings, and the building itself, which does not lie the way people do. A detail in one apartment can explain a contradiction in another.

Every resident had a life before you knocked. Each has an answer for the unfamiliar name, the extra bed, the footsteps after midnight. The answers seem solid until you press. Some will invite you in and offer you tea. Others will keep their doors closed. There are ways to open them.

Now, get to work. Your family is waiting for good news.

FEATURES

  • Classic detective work. As the new custodian of Habitation Block 17, explore its nine apartments, corridors, and shared spaces. Interview its secretive residents, rebuild the census, and discover who killed the landlord.

  • Logical deduction. Cross-check clues and rule out impossible explanations. Figure out each resident’s name, where they actually live, and what they did on the night of the fire.

  • Time moves only when you act. Walking, looking around, and reviewing evidence cost nothing. Every question, examination, and search costs time.

  • One final decision. Once you know what happened, choose what to report to the Directorate and what to risk for your family. What you write becomes the truth.

  • Accessibility from the start. We are designing Unaccounted so that as many people as possible can play it, whatever their abilities, language, or hardware.
