This Is the Peace

About the Game

The Nobel committee made this personal.

The King wanted a Peace Prize. He got a reason to be difficult. Now he has a year to convince the world that nobody does peace better. You run the operation: a map full of crises, a team full of opinions, and a phone that really should have a child lock.

This Is the Peace is a satirical strategy game about dispatching a volatile team, handling diplomatic negotiations, and living with the consequences of your decisions.

Great people. Terrible combinations.

Read the situation, pick your specialists, and send them out. Skills matter. So do exhaustion, friendships, grudges, and an alarming fondness for luxury resorts. The perfect candidate on paper may have other plans.

Deal with diplomatic embarrassments, rescue people from danger, and decide when an operation needs special forces, a carrier, or missiles. Extra firepower does not come with a refund policy.

Everyone has a peace plan. Read the fine print.

Assign special envoys to prolonged conflicts and compare their roadmaps. Choose who leads and who assists, take calls from foreign leaders, and weigh requests that can change the negotiations. A signature is a milestone. Getting anyone to honor it is another job.

The most dangerous device in the room has a touchscreen.

Use the T-Phone to claim a victory, answer an accusation, or post a spectacular picture of yourself. Followers, critics, and your own team are watching. Give someone credit and somebody else may want a word.

Watch the budget and your approval at home while your decisions change the balance of influence abroad. You wanted a prize. Try to leave a world in which it can still be awarded.
