The Last Theology

The Last Theology

About the Game

THE LAST THEOLOGY is a 1v1 ASCII fighting game about winning a turn and refusing to give it back.

Combat is built around possession. Open somebody up, keep control, extend the sequence, launch them, cash it out, and make them spend resources just to get back to neutral.

There are four fighters:

ASLAN, THE BOUND FIEND
Fire. Aggression. A human binding that progressively fails until there is more furnace than person left.

ORPHEUS, THE GODLESS MARTYR
The Deep. Space control, ritual positioning, burial, and a darkness that removes pieces of the arena instead of simply covering them.

VLADIMIR, CONSUMMATE OF THE FIRST SIN
Blood. Inheritance. Ascension. His blood does not fall correctly. It hangs in the air, forms geometry, and remembers where it came from.

FREYA, FOLLY IN THE DARK
Ice. Rot. Grace. A disciplined divinity that learns every law of the duel only to abandon them, becoming something beautiful enough to look holy and monstrous enough to make that holiness feel like a mistake.

The universal combat system includes Quick and Heavy attacks, Shield, Breaker, Dash attacks, Flash Step, Launchers, Reversals, transformations, and character-specific specials.

Yellow is your offensive resource. Reverse returns with time and gives you access to defensive escapes. Spend badly and you can find yourself trapped in somebody else's turn with very few honest ways out.

At 25 VESSEL or lower, Last Rite becomes available. You get one attempt per enemy Soul. If it connects, that Soul dies. If it is blocked or misses, the attempt is gone.

The game is rendered entirely in a Windows terminal, but the ASCII is not just decoration. Fire distorts nearby text. Blood assembles itself into deliberate shapes. The Deep removes glyphs from the world.
