About the Game
You’ll take on the role of a lonely forest hag deep in The Back Country, observing and influencing the growth of three clans of animals.
Guide the animals through their daily lives to solve problems and mysteries, uncovering the ancient secrets of the land.
Use psionic suggestion to help the animals develop skills, manage their resources, and support their societies. But don’t forget- each animal has their own personality, and will grow suspicious of you if their sense of self is too often disrupted. Manage your benevolent subterfuge!
Time will progress, and animals will live full lives, having and raising children of their own, and eventually departing to the after life. The forest continues its cycle.
Explore lineage, trust between player and creatures, and how different perspectives can morph a society’s sense of reality.

You have inhabited these woods for ages, unseen. Guide the communities of animals to prosperity, inspire their belief in you – but don’t weird them out by being too overbearing in your desperate loneliness.
Gameplay spans generations
The secrets of The Back Country cannot be revealed in one animal’s lifetime, nor can a society grow to self sufficiency in one generation. Creatures are born, grow old, and die, leaving their obligations to their children.
Different clans, different specialties
Each group of animals has their own specialization when it comes to interacting with reality; wolves revolve around sociology, pigs hinge themselves on intellectual pursuit, and crocodiles prioritize spiritual dominance. Only by working together can they fully comprehend the totality of The Back Country.
Unique creatures, evolving bloodlines
Each animal is born with skills and visual aspects influenced by their parent animals, determining their effectiveness at work, puzzles, and research.
