About the Game

About This Game

Taking Today Off is a light-hearted roguelike deck-building game.

You’ll draw cards that represent different “life states”, then combine them with stickers and tools to build a setup that feels just right:
some deal damage, some keep you alive, and some are there purely to stir up chaos.

The basics are simple:
Draw cards → place them on the board → press “Play.”

But as the difficulty ramps up, you’ll start caring about the details:

Where should this card go?
Which sticker is better to apply first?
Should this tool protect one card, or heal another?
Do you push your luck this turn — or play it safe?

Every run can unfold in a completely different way.

What’s the fun?

Trigger satisfying chain reactions in a single turn:
critical hits, combos, splash damage, counterattacks, stuns…

Even though it’s a battle, it feels oddly familiar —
each build is like planning a small daily escape:
less work, fewer chores, social obligations on pause.

No two runs are the same.
With different choices, cards, stickers, and tools, the same starting point can lead to entirely different paths.

You’ll feel yourself improving over time —
from “just placing cards” to precise positioning and planning.
The deeper you go, the harder it is to stop.
