About the Game

Available now: the original pixel-art version

The current Steam release of StarsKnight is an intergalactic-themed, side-scrolling pixel-art action game. The version you can purchase and download today offers the following:
  • Collect three time potions in each level to activate the exit door and progress.
  • Search the walls, where time potions and treasure chests are often hidden.
  • Avoid spikes and face bugs and flying creatures.
  • In Endless Mode, each entry generates a random map layout. The game records monsters killed, distance travelled, survival time and gold coins collected.
This is the currently released game. Publishing this store description in multiple languages does not add those languages to the game; the current in-game language support remains as listed in Steam's language table. The following section introduces a separate rebuild that has not been released.

Rebuild in development — not available on Steam yet

The story, features and new-version media below describe the upcoming rebuild, not the version currently available to download on Steam. The Windows rebuild has not been released. Purchases currently provide the existing released version; these planned features are not available in that download. A release date and final feature set have not been confirmed.

The story we plan to tell

The rebuild will follow SHIM after Yinda's eternal spring ends and invaders steal the Elemental Isotoper. Its trail will lead through a derelict experimental satellite, stolen records and lost civilizations. Why does a giant eye already know your next move? We are planning illustrated conversations, cosmic mysteries, malfunctioning bureaucrats, and a floor whose win rate deserves an investigation.

A cosmic maze we plan to keep changing

We are planning cartoon 3D models in a side-scrolling adventure with expeditions that recombine layered rooms, vertical shafts, loops, shortcuts, hazards and boss encounters. The intended movement set will include a double-jump flip, wall climbing, dashes and downward strikes that bounce SHIM back into the air. Planned enemies and bosses will use readable warnings and varied attacks rather than reward standing still and swinging forever.

Planned combat: one attack key, more choices

The rebuild is planned to offer a crystal blade, machine guns, shotguns, rockets and a charm gun that temporarily recruits ordinary monsters. We intend to support eight-direction aiming and charged blade, gun and vehicle attacks by holding the same attack key. Resonance is planned to fuel Elemental Arts, fighting shadow clones and Focus Healing, with equipment and optional inscriptions chosen before deployment.

Vehicles and new battlefields under development

We are planning tanks, mechs, fighters and submersibles for orbital airways and underwater channels. Intended aircraft features will include firing patterns, XP firepower growth, wingmen, homing missiles and flashbursts that clear hostile bullets.

Planned loot, extraction and survival

The rebuild is planned as a single-player simulation with 99 locally controlled AI rival knights spread across the map. They are intended to fight monsters, gather loot, seek cover and attack SHIM; they will not be real online players. Random extraction gates are planned to let you bank weapons, equipment, materials and Star Credits, while pushing onward will bring increasing pressure and better loot prospects. The intended rules will lose carried gear and unbanked gains on death, reward the last survivor and return them to the Preparation Bay. A shrinking Hazard Zone is planned as an optional switch.

Preparation and localization planned for the rebuild

We intend to add trading, equipment enhancement, permanent skill upgrades, quick preparation tools, illustrated achievements earned through real experiences, and a local sector-clear leaderboard. The planned PC controls will use a customizable keyboard layout and menu-only mouse input. Interface and story text are planned in ten languages; this does not mean ten-language text or fully voiced audio is included in the current Steam download. The new progress, ranking and achievement systems are planned to be local, not online services or promised Steam integrations.
