Standard of Iron
About the Game
COMMAND AN ARMY. LEAD FROM THE FRONT.
Standard of Iron is a real-time strategy game set during an altered Second Punic War.
Command the armies of Rome and Carthage across large battlefields, organize troops into tactical formations, build and defend your supply lines, assault fortified positions, and take direct control of a battlefield commander when the fighting becomes personal.
March with Hannibal from the Rhône and the Alps to Cannae and Zama — while an unnatural force known as the Iron Sepulcher gathers around a war that is beginning to stray from history.
FIGHT AT ARMY SCALE
Control infantry, archers, cavalry, war elephants, healers, siege engines, builders, and commanders.
Move individual units or entire formations, hold defensive lines, patrol key routes, protect vulnerable troops, exploit terrain, and coordinate attacks against enemy armies and fortified settlements.
Formation choice matters. Shield walls, cavalry wedges, faction doctrines, troop roles, terrain, and battlefield positioning all influence how your army fights.
TAKE DIRECT COMMAND
Switch between the strategic battlefield view and direct control of your commander without leaving the battle.
Fight alongside your soldiers using melee and ranged weapons, guarding, dodging, abilities, lock-on combat, and commander auras while the orders you issued to the rest of your army continue to unfold.
BUILD AND SUSTAIN YOUR WAR MACHINE
Victory requires more than winning the first engagement.
Gather timber, stone, iron, and gold. Establish stockpiles, recruit new troops, construct and repair buildings, raise walls and gates, set rally points, and trade through marketplaces.
Protect your economy and supply infrastructure while looking for opportunities to disrupt the enemy's.
BREAK FORTIFIED POSITIONS
Battlefields include rivers, forests, mountains, settlements, walls, gates, towers, and siege routes.
Use catapults, ballistae, infantry, ranged troops, cavalry, and elephants to overcome defensive positions while fire, projectiles, morale effects, and close combat reshape the battlefield.
MARCH THE BARCID ROAD
Follow Hannibal's campaign across eight missions inspired by the Second Punic War:
Rhône — The Alps — Ticino — Trebia — Trasimene — Cannae — Campania — Zama
Objectives range from major field battles and settlement capture to survival, economy management, timed assaults, enemy waves, and commander elimination.
But this is not the history you know. As Rome and Carthage exhaust themselves in war, the Iron Sepulcher begins to emerge.
