No timers. No sirens. Space is wide and quiet, and nothing out here is chasing you. Tilt your saucer toward whatever light looks interesting.

Drop your beam over a sleeping pasture and lift a cow — or two, if there's room. Crack open a drifting rock and watch the minerals float up into your hold. Go as far as you like, stop whenever you like.

Your base is old, and your ship is older. Every trip out pays for one more repair: a sealed crack in the hull, a beam that reaches a little farther, a hold with room to spare.

Strengthen yourself along the way, too — a steadier grip, a longer breath, a warmer engine.
