About the Game
SoulStream Saga: Chapter 1 is an old-school 2D pixel art JRPG with a Shared ATB (Active Time Battle) turn-based combat system built around timing and elemental mastery. A narrative-driven experience inspired by the classic JRPGs of the SNES and early PlayStation era.
Story
A brutal war has ravaged the capital city of Alestria. Rival factions, Mages and Alchemists, claim to fight for a better future, but many are simply using the conflict as an excuse for anarchy, while ordinary civilians pay the price.
Astarius Valcrest, a former Mage, believes unity is the only answer. He casts aside his title and leaves to study alchemy, returning years later with Alchaeon, a blade forged by his own hand and infused with both magic and alchemy. With it, he is determined to prove that unity, not division, will shape his city's future.
A century later, the world he fought for stands. But Princess Victoria Lockewell's father, the king, is descending into madness and threatening everything Astarius built. Desperate, she casts a forbidden incantation to revive him.
Combat System
Shared ATB (Active Time Battle) System: Designed to focus on timing, pressure, and smart decision making.
Casting and interrupts: Most actions take time to execute. Disrupt an enemy cast at the right moment and turn the tide of battle.
Elemental strategy: Both Astarius and his enemies have elemental weaknesses and resistances that can be exploited in battle. Astarius's elemental affinity is determined by his current stance, which shifts depending on the skills you choose.
Adaptive enemy behavior: Enemies evaluate the current situation every turn, reacting to heal, buff, disrupt, focus, assist teammates, and more, with a touch of unpredictability
Equipment and items: Utilize a variety of items in battle and equip various types of gear to better prepare yourself for what lies ahead.
The Full SoulStream Saga
The complete version of SoulStream Saga: Chapter 1 will include:
● 3 characters active in combat, 7 total party members to recruit and develop.
● 40+ hours of story content.
● Lore and narrative that explores the world 100 years after the war and its long-term consequences.
● A fully realised presentation with enhanced art, VFX, lighting, and an original score.
● A unique skill tree for every character, supporting distinct builds and playstyles.
● Minigames including treasure hunting, fishing, a unique playable trading card game, and more.
DEMO Notice
This free demo showcases the game's narrative and combat as a prequel to the full story. All skills and magic are unlocked and Astarius is at maximum level. As a project developed in only a few months by a 3-person team, you may encounter some bugs and performance issues. Any feedback is incredibly valuable and will help shape the full game.
