About the Game
Shattered Chess is a fast, hypnotic roguelike remix of chess. You get 10 moves to beat a target score. Enemy pieces are scattered and don’t move—your job is to chain captures for massive combos. Miss a capture and the chain breaks. Between fights, visit the shop to buy/upgrade passives and effects, then face unique bosses that warp the rules.
HOW IT PLAYS
Pick a King Challenge – a difficulty modifier that applies a run-long drawback (no player bonus) and forces you to adapt.
Plan 10 moves – every decision matters; find the most optimal routes.
Chain captures – take multiple pieces in one combo to multiply your score.
Cooldown matters – a capturing piece goes on a 1-move cooldown, so rotate your lineup or build around reducing/offsetting cooldowns.
Beat the target – hit or exceed the enemy’s score to win the match.
Shop between fights – buy and upgrade passives/effects to overcome obstacles.
Boss encounters – every few stages, a boss changes the rules in surprising ways.
Endless mode – after a successful run, push your luck and climb as far as you can.
BUILDCRAFTING
Specialize or diversify – invest in passives that boost one piece type, or get rewarded for switching between different pieces within the same combo.
Mechanic-focused builds – stack cooldown reduction or zone effects that boost your score when you plan and play around them.
Mitigate the drawback – draft passives/effects that help you bypass the negatives of your King Challenge.
