Sea Star: The Diaries of Anne Bonny

About the Game

About This Game

Sea Star is a third-person, single-player action-adventure game that tells a parallel story of survival and legacy across two distinct eras. Players control Anne Bonny as both the legendary 18th-century pirate and her modern-day descendant.

Instead of maintaining a large, permanent arsenal of primary firearms, the gameplay forces you to rely on an improvisational combat loop. You carry only a permanent sidearm and a melee weapon, using a high-mobility grappling hook to yank primary weapons directly out of enemy hands, empty the magazines, throw the empty guns to stagger threats, and repeat the cycle.

The game transitions from a vibrant, vertical tropical island in the classic era to a dense, hostile jungle hub in the modern era. Sea Star blends fluid traversal, environmental puzzle-solving, and aggressive weapon-scavenging combat, backed by an original soundtrack composed by Beverly Van Wingerden.

Key Features

  • Engage in a fast-paced, improvisational combat loop where primary weapons cannot be reloaded, forcing you to constantly snatch firearms from enemies with your grapple hook and hurl them when empty to stagger your threats.

  • Navigate highly vertical environments by scaling massive outpost walls, swinging across deep sea coves, and dropping onto targets from the jungle canopy using a high-mobility grappling hook.

  • Experience an active dual-era parallelism where the tactical layouts and exploration mechanics of 18th-century pirate outposts directly mirror and inform your approach to modern military camps.

  • Explore two massive, wide-linear sandbox hub levels packed with fortified enemy camps to infiltrate and environmental puzzles that reward you with permanent gear upgrades.

  • Survive overwhelming group crossfire by throwing empty weapons to trigger a tactical stagger, forcing enemies to lose track of you so you can isolate a single foe or vanish back into the shadows.
