Robot Gridiron
Robot Gridiron
About the Game
Every player is a robot
American football the way you remember it — kickoffs, fourth-down decisions, blitz packages, the works. With one difference: every player on the field is a robot, and every robot rolled off the line as an undifferentiated blank chassis with a 1 in all eight stats. What they become is entirely up to you.
You are the Owner
You are not on the field. You never control a player. You call the play, and the robots play it.- Call the plays on game day — read their personnel, pick your coverage, and live with it
- Or set a game plan and let your tendencies call the game for you
- Manage the roster — who starts, who sits, who gets cut
- Spend the money — upgrades, fresh chassis, or hold for next season
- Work the marketplace — buy, sell, list
Author your own playbook
This is not a fixed play list. Build packages, arrange formations, and draw routes for every robot by hand — offense, defense, and special teams. Curate which of them your team is even allowed to run, then call from what you built.Nothing is decided before the snap
Plays are not rolled and then animated. Every block, every pursuit angle, every shed and every tackle emerges frame by frame from live state on the field. Two identical calls will not give you the same result.Your defense reads run or pass and reacts at the speed of its own processors — so play-action and draws work exactly as well as your opponent is slow to diagnose them.
Robots grow, and robots fade
Eight stats, and thirteen tiers of upgrade behind each one. There are no predefined positions: a robot built with the right stats can play any role you want it to. A chassis you picked up in your first season can become a championship cornerstone — or burn out in two years. Some of what drives a robot's development is on the sheet. Some of it you will have to work out for yourself.
Seasons that compound
A league runs four ladders with promotion and relegation between them, and many leagues run in parallel. Every position in the table has stakes. Wins earn money, money buys upgrades, upgrades shape your team, and your team chases promotion.Every snap is a stat. Every season is a record. The most interesting robots have stories that take several seasons to tell.
Your first season is free
The game will have a small upfront fee TBD (**right now I'm thinking about $10**), and and this includes your first full season — every game of it, with the whole roster, the whole playbook, and the full ladder. Not a trial, not a timer, not a slice.Entry to each season after that is a flat fee (**targeting $5), paid once when you sign up for it. That is the entire business model.
- No ads
- No loot boxes, no gacha, no energy timers
- No paying for a better robot — every upgrade in this game is bought with money your team earned on the field
And a season does not demand your evenings. Set a game plan and your team will
play a full season on it — every situation, every down — while you check in
whenever you feel like it. Calling every snap yourself is an option, not a
requirement.
