Reefling: A Cozy Desktop Aquarium

Reefling: A Cozy Desktop Aquarium

About the Game

A calm little aquarium that lives on your desktop

Reefling is a see-through fish tank that sits in the corner of your screen while you work or play. The fish swim around, the water glows, and your desktop shows right through the glass. Clicks pass straight through the tank too, so it stays out of your way.

Feed your fish and grow your collection

  • Click anywhere in the tank to drop food, and your fish will swim over to eat it.
  • You earn shells slowly while the tank is open, with a little bonus when you feed. It builds up on its own, so there's nothing to grind for.
  • Spend those shells in the Store and pick from over 150 pixel-art fish species.
  • New species show up the longer you play, so the collection fills out over weeks instead of one long sitting.

Make it your own

  • Decorate with seaweed, kelp, coral, sea fans, rocks and shiny shells.
  • Name and rename any fish you like.
  • A day/night cycle slowly shifts the water from bright noon light to deep blue night.
  • The tank gets livelier (and a bit bigger) as your little community grows.

Keep it relaxed

  • Your fish never starve. Leave it alone for hours or days and the tank is always fine.
  • The interface fades out when you go idle, with soft aquarium sounds in the background.
  • It stays on top when you want it around, and clicks pass through so it never blocks anything.

Reefling is my first game, made by one person. I wanted something calm to keep me company while I worked, without it ever getting in the way. That's the whole idea.
