Quiet Lands
About the Game
Survive this night first. Then the first winter. One day, a village may rise around your fire.
Quiet Lands is a 2D open-world game set in the wild lands of the Iron Age north, bringing together survival and village-building mechanics.
You start out in worn clothes, in the middle of endless forests, lakes and bogs. Hunt, fish, live off nature and prepare for the harsh winters ahead. First build yourself a shelter, then turn your small camp into a living village. Protect your villagers, make friends with your neighbors, or fight for your land.
Nothing comes easy in these lands. But everything you build is yours.
Grow your own village
Over time, turn a life that began at a single campfire into a bustling, self-sufficient village.
Raise your homestead post, welcome new settlers and give them work. Hunters head into the forest, farmers tend the fields and herders look after the flocks. Provisioners smoke, dry and cook food, while builders raise new buildings.
But your villagers are more than just workers. Each of them has a life of their own. They make friends, marry and grow old. Their needs and happiness matter; those who stay unhappy for too long may leave your village.
Even while you explore distant lands, life in your village goes on.
Live off the land
The forests, lakes and bogs of the north hold much of what you need to survive.
Gather blueberries and mushrooms, but beware of the poisonous ones. Hunt with bow, spear and traps, and follow animal tracks. Fish the lakes with spear, harpoon, rod and net.
Butcher your kills and process their hides into fur or leather. Dry, smoke or salt the meat to store it for winter. Work the soil and grow turnips, rye, barley and flax.
Raise goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, cattle and reindeer in your village. Milk them, shear wool, collect eggs and take care of your herds.
Tame a wild wolf by feeding it, or get yourself a loyal dog. Let it follow you through the forest, learn your commands and guard your camp when danger draws near.
Nature can be generous, but making the most of what it offers and preparing for the future is up to you.
Long, brutal winters
In the north, every season changes life. The endless bright nights of summer, the falling leaves of autumn and the deep snow of winter that buries everything…
Cold kills just as surely as hunger, thirst, exhaustion and wounds. Light your fire before night falls and find yourself shelter. Line your clothes with fur and build a sturdy log cabin.
When winter comes, lakes freeze, food grows scarce and bitter frosts can last for days. Cut holes in the ice to fish, ski across snowy terrain and follow animal tracks in the snow. But a sudden blizzard can put out even a fire burning in the open.
When icy winds tear through the forest, a warm hearth, a full storehouse and a roof over your head will be your most precious possessions.
Whether you survive the winter depends on how well you prepared in summer.
Tools, clothes and armor
Set out on a crafting journey that leads from primitive stone tools to steel weapons hammered at the forge.
Make tools, bows and arrows from stone, bone and quartz. Sew clothes from materials such as birch bark, linen, wool, felt and leather; dye them and improve them to suit your needs.
Burn charcoal, smelt ore and learn to work copper, bronze, iron and steel. Protect yourself from danger with chain and plate armor.
Everything you make has a quality. Your skills improve as you use them, and as you gain experience you can make better tools, clothes and weapons.
Neighbors, trade and danger
You are not alone in the wilds of the north. Wolves hunt in packs, bears prowl close to your settlement and highwaymen lie in wait on lonely roads.
As your village grows and prospers, new threats arise. Bandit gangs covet your supplies, and hostile villages may send thieves under cover of night.
Build fences, raise watchtowers and light up your surroundings with torch posts. After all, there is little point in growing a village you cannot protect.
But not every stranger is your enemy.
Beyond distant forests and lakes lie other villages, each with its own chief, resources and character. Barter goods with your neighbors without using money, make friends and forge alliances.
Not every encounter ends peacefully. Sometimes you can avoid conflict by paying tribute; at other times you may go to war to protect your village and your interests.
Will you choose peace, or rule by strength?
A world reborn in every game
Step into a vast world that is generated anew for every game and waiting to be explored.
Cross forests, lakes and bogs, and journey to distant settlements. Discover new villages on the world map, meet different communities and venture into unknown lands.
Every journey holds new opportunities and dangers. The farther you stray from home, the harder it is to know what awaits you.
Survive together
Play co-op with your friends and build a life together in the same village.
Hunt, fish, gather resources and build together. Share the work, run your village, prepare for the long winters and face the dangers side by side.
Your story begins at a small campfire. Where it leads is up to you.
