About the Game

MK-ULTRA Psychic Defense is a rogue-like tower defense game where you will use unique esoterically themed towers to defeat waves of mind goblins and obtain unique power ups that will empower and improve your towers.

In MK-ULTRA Psychic Defense you play as a victim of the MK-ULTRA program, a young Ted Kaczynski, you have been unknowingly dosed with a highly experimental psychedelic compound in order to astral project your mind into the Psychosphere. Your CIA handlers wish you the best of luck in defending your Kundalini energy spiral from the waves of lower dimensional entities seeking to return your soul to the illusion of physical reality.

  •  Deck-Building Tower Defense — Your towers are cards. Draw them, play them, reshuffle them. Manage your draw pile, hand, and discard pile across every run.

  •  The Akashic Records — A full shop between waves where you can purchase tower cards, conspiracy cards, consumables, and upgrades with Gnosis, the currency of enlightenment.

  •  58 Conspiracy Cards — Persistent passive modifiers that bend the rules of your run. Stack synergies across 6 tags, trigger effects on card draws, tower sales, and incoming damage.

  •  22 Consumables — One-time-use items like psychic shields, AoE blasts, and stat buffs held in a dedicated slot bar.

  •  13 Occult Towers — Pyramids, Ankhs, Time Cubes, Cosmic Eggs, and more — each with unique attack patterns and inter-tower synergies.

Tower Types:

  • The Pyramid: Focuses energy blast volleys at nearby enemies

  • The Ankh: It's radiant energy damages all enemies within a given radius

  • The Third Eye: Causes enemies to glow in the dark, and take double damage from all damage sources

  • Ancestral Memories: Increases the damage output of other towers within range

  • The Flower of Life: Gives nearby towers an increased chance of doing chain damage on enemy hit

  • The Emerald Tablet: Increases the range of nearby towers

  • Mani Wheel: Slows nearby enemies

  • The Tuning Fork : Increases the attack speed of nearby towers

  • The TIME CUBE: Grants a debuff to all enemies called "Cubic Time". Enemies afflicted by cubic time will have the intensity of the damage and other debuffs applied to them multiplied by four.

  • Cosmic Death Fungus: Enemies killed within the range of this tower will drop extra "Awareness"

  • The Magnum Opus: Rapidly fires little projectiles that damage enemies over time

  • The Cosmic Egg: When the egg hatches a Phoenix will be born. The Cosmic Phoenix will then traverse the enemy path back to its end damaging all enemies along the way.

  • The Anunnaki compass: Summons a meteor to damage many enemies within a given range.
