About the Game

KUROMAKU

A VHS-style psychological thriller inspired by Fears to Fathom and Chilla’s Art. Ordinary routines become your only defense against a creeping, unseen horror in this slow-burn 1990s-inspired nightmare.

Kuromaku is a narrative-focused first-person horror experience built around isolation, domestic realism, and psychological tension. Rather than relying on constant spectacle, the game draws fear from silence, subtle environmental shifts, and the growing feeling that something inside the house is watching.

  • Normal Mode – Clean, immersive presentation.

  • VHS Mode – Optional retro analog filter inspired by 1990s camcorder footage, featuring grain, distortion, and signal interference.

    Everyday Routines, Twisted

Progress time by completing grounded household tasks:

    • Cleaning the bathroom

    • Washing dishes

    • Buying groceries

    • Maintaining daily responsibilities

The more routine life becomes, the more unsettling the changes feel.

    Exploration & Environmental Storytelling

Search the house and surrounding areas. Examine objects. Pay attention to subtle details. The environment evolves over time, revealing clues and hidden implications. Lighting, ambient sound, and environmental tension shift across the three days, transforming safe domestic spaces into oppressive environments.

    Multiple Endings

Different choices lead to different conclusions.
Not every truth is meant to be uncovered. Your reactions determine how events unfold.
Confront the presence. Ignore it. Investigate further.

Every decision influences the final outcome.
