STORY

You are Hatori, a masked imperial agent sent to the lawless asteroid city Kleopatra with a mission from a mysterious master: find and capture Espada, a dangerous psychic fugitive.

To reach him, you must shoot and slash your way through violent biker gangs at war over TDE: a strange, reality-warping substance. Along the way, you enlist the help of Klover, a sharp-witted bounty hunter with her own reasons for hunting Espada, and uncover past secrets that call into question your master's true motivations.

COMBAT

Clear enemy waves before HP or TIME runs out. Shoot enemies to build your hit chance, land critical hits, and chain SLASH, SNIPE, and SLICE abilities into devastating combos. Slow down enemy attacks with ASTRAL SHIFT or DODGE at the last moment to avoid damage. Different enemy types have unique defenses to break through, requiring strategic use of abilities and their effects.

MOD CHAINS AND UPGRADES

Between waves, draft randomized mods in a roguelite selection. Equip up to three at a time. Each mod alters your stats, but the real power is in how they chain together. Mods trigger off each other in loops, turning careful selections into automatic combo engines.

Earn credits through bounties and invest them in Proxy's shop. Incrementally upgrade your stat ranges so the next run starts stronger than the last. Better base stats mean better mods, better mods mean longer chains, longer chains mean higher scores. The loop keeps building.

CHASE HIGH SCORES

Earn high scores through escalating bounties to unlock side missions with dialogue choices. Complete the story to unlock NEW GAME PLUS and an INFINITE BOUNTY endgame mode: an endless run where you can cash out or keep pushing until your HP or TIME hits zero.

CONTROLS AND SUPPORT

Mouse and keyboard controls are recommended, but gamepad controls are also included for Steam Deck players.

Kleopatra is built with the Ren'Py visual novel engine. For best performance, set your Maximum Processor State to 100% in Power Options.

INFLUENCES

The story takes place in a retrofuturistic sci-fi world heavily inspired by classic cyberpunk films like BLADE RUNNER, GHOST IN THE SHELL, and AKIRA. The combat was inspired by classic arcade shooters like TIME CRISIS with a mod chain system inspired by roguelite deckbuilders like BALATRO.
