About the Game

Fight samurai hordes and recruit their shadows.

KAGERO is a third-person action game set in a samurai fantasy world. Head out on expeditions, fight enemy soldiers and capture their camps. Develop your character’s abilities as you fight, and gather shadows that battle alongside you.

Raise the shadow of a defeated enemy to fight beside you. Soldiers, spearmen and heavy fighters retain their appearance and fighting style. New recruits join the battle as soon as you capture them.

At the end of an expedition, you can keep a recruit for future runs. Train your shadows in the lobby to improve their vitality, power or mobility, then choose up to three companions before setting out again. You can capture more shadows along the way.

Fight with your katana, chain attacks and dodge between enemies. Watch for attacks you can counter and evade the others. When several opponents surround you, keeping track of their movements matters as much as landing your own hits.

Unlock techniques during each run to add to your attacks. Dash, dragon breath or a lightning counter: choose the abilities you want to play with and learn how to use them in combat.

Collect souls and choose upgrades throughout your expedition. Items and abilities strengthen your character and add new options to your attacks. You can upgrade abilities you already use or learn new ones.

Between waves, attack the enemy camps. Clear the defenders from the flag, stay in the capture zone to raise it and fight off reinforcements. An enemy entering the circle stops your progress: clear the zone to resume the capture. Each conquered camp offers another reward before the fighting continues.

Play solo, with up to 4 players in online co-op or 2 in split-screen. Fight together, revive fallen teammates and coordinate your assaults. One player can hold the flag while the others intercept incoming reinforcements.

Each player chooses their own camp rewards. Develop different abilities and use them together while continuing to build your own character.
