Inflection Point is a combat-focused multiplayer 4X game where supply lines and naval dominance matter.

Punch through your opponent's defensive lines, flood into the gap, and cut off their supply. But beware of the counter-attack. If the front is closed behind you, it'll be your army that's isolated. Will you cut your losses? Or double down and launch a bold attack to rescue them?

And every battle is part of a global war. Distant colonies provide the supply to grow and feed your troops, but a strong navy can overwhelm coastal defenders and blockade an island’s ports, bottling up the supply it produces and slowly starving any army that depends on it.

Unlike most games in the genre, Inflection Point has been designed from the ground up for multiplayer. Games are quick and packed with dramatic, all-over-the-map combat.

Supply Lines

Combat revolves around the game's unique supply mechanic. Every unit consumes a certain amount of supply and the cities you control produce supply. But to keep units supplied, they must be connected to a sufficient source of supply. These connections flow through territory you control and between un-blockaded ports. If troops are cut off from supply they'll suffer severe movement and combat penalties.

Encircle Whole Armies

Battles are more than just having a bigger army and slamming it into your opponent. Defenders have substantial advantages in combat, so a successful attack requires smart positioning to pin down, encircle, and cut off the enemy. The opponent may have a larger army, but if you notice them misposition a defending unit, or if you bluff and bait them into overextending, quick thinking and a decisive reaction can nullify their advantage in numbers.

Blockade Colonies to Devastating Effect

Since supply flows across the map, no battle takes place in isolation. Every corner of your empire contributes supply. If your opponent has left a distant, supply-rich island that's under-defended, a small squadron can blockade its ports and deprive their armies elsewhere of the vital supply they need to keep fighting effectively. So instead of duelling death balls, players must wage war across multiple theatres that span the entire map.

Bait Your Opponent into Pyrrhic Victories

Over such a large map, you'll have to think carefully about where to allocate scarce reinforcements. Winning the war means making the tough decision of which battles to lose. If you can scare your opponent into overcommitting to a certain theatre, you'll be able to get the upper hand where it actually matters.

Seize the Crucial Moment

Because turns are taken simultaneously, quick thinking and keen instincts will keep you always one step ahead. In the chaos of battle, as multiple fronts are collapsing, staying level-headed and seizing the crucial moment can send a larger opponent's empire crumbling like a house of cards.

Ideologies & Deck Building

The game is set in a fictional 19th century Europe. You play as the ambitious ruler of a rising power with the chance to become great in a tumultuous world of revolution and reaction. Ideologies of the era are represented by sets of cards, each with its own synergies and play-style. Cards you draw grants new units and ability.

Multiplayer

While the game is turn-based, every player takes their turn simultaneously.

Maps are randomly generated and can support up to eight players. Game length tends to scale up with the number of players and will naturally always have a certain amount of variability. But two player games are designed to take about an hour on average and those with higher player counts are designed to fit comfortably into a weekday evening.

Inflection Point has been designed on a tight complexity budget. Gameplay depth is achieved by rewarding advanced strategic thinking rather than requiring it upfront. And because the random draw of the cards makes every game unique, in any given game players will only have to contend with a fraction of all possible interactions.

This means that new players can comfortably jump into their first game without being immediately overwhelmed by a bevy of intricate mechanics.
