HotFix Protocol
About the Game
Repair Systems Under Pressure
In HotFix Protocol, each mission focuses on restoring critical systems inside a failing facility.
Players enter environments where power, cooling, life support, and other infrastructure are already compromised. Objectives involve locating the problem, gathering the required equipment, and performing repairs while conditions continue to deteriorate.
Many tasks require preparation, timing, and sustained attention. Ignoring problems causes systems to regress or trigger additional hazards.
The challenge lies in maintaining control as multiple issues compete for attention.
Built for Co-op, Playable Solo
HotFix Protocol is designed as a cooperative experience. Missions often present multiple simultaneous problems that are difficult to manage alone, encouraging players to divide responsibilities and adapt to changing conditions.
There are no fixed classes or predefined roles. Players take on tasks as situations demand, repairing systems, securing areas, transporting equipment, or containing new failures as they emerge.
The game is fully playable solo, but handling every task alone increases pressure and reduces room for error. Cooperation makes recovery faster and more reliable.
Unstable Systems, Real-Time Decisions
Systems do not remain stable once they begin to fail. Power fluctuates, repairs degrade under stress, and new problems can appear while others are still being addressed.
Combat, movement, and repairs compete for attention. Teams must decide when to secure an area, when to disengage to prevent further breakdown, and when to commit fully to restoring a critical system.
Some repairs require locating tools or components and accessing unsafe areas, adding logistical pressure to already unstable conditions.
Maintaining control requires reacting to change rather than following a fixed plan.
When Software Failures Become Physical
The facility is overrun by an anomaly: system failures have taken physical form. Instability within the infrastructure manifests as hostile entities and disruptive phenomena inside the environment.
Bugs swarm repair sites and interfere with the team’s work. More severe failures, such as crashes or lags, alter the situation in distinct ways, forcing teams to respond differently rather than relying on a single tactic.
These threats are not living creatures, but expressions of malfunctioning logic. Each one represents a breakdown in the system, escalating disruption if left unmanaged.
As instability increases, the environment becomes less predictable. The objective remains the same: restore control before failure spreads beyond recovery.
A Controlled, Industrial Sci-Fi Setting
HotFix Protocol takes place inside active industrial facilities built around function rather than spectacle.
Spaces are dense with machinery, control systems, and infrastructure that must remain operational under stress. Areas can become unsafe due to failures, reduced visibility, or degraded controls, requiring teams to adapt as circumstances change.
The setting is technical, reactive, and grounded in function, reinforcing the focus on control, pressure, and recovery.
