Eternal Quest: Ascended
About the Game
An idle action RPG with absurd mechanical depth.
Theorycrafters rejoice!
Build the perfect hero, synergize your build, and watch him tear through mob after mob while you sit back and admire the carnage.
Eternal Quest: Ascended is deceptively simple on the surface, but beneath it lies a plethora of carefully crafted algorithms, mechanics and interactions waiting to be discovered!
Why would I play Eternal Quest: Ascended?
Have you ever played an epic RPG and loved the complex character building, meta crafting and optimization exploration, but then you had to slog through all that annoying GAMEPLAY? Have you ever wished you could just build your character and then had someone to just check if the build works or not, only to be disappointed by having to check it yourself by actually playing?
Eternal Quest: Ascended is the solution to your problem!
It delivers all the depth and complexity of character building while removing all the annoying parts! You just level up your hero, optimize his build, and watch him go!
What's special about this game?
Eternal Quest was built from the ground up by a theorycrafter, for theorycrafters, based on a lifetime of theorycrafting experience!
Every piece of gear matters; no extra stuff just to make numbers go up
No stat points; that's too micro and doesn't do anything
Skill trees that are short and sweet where every point placed is important
5 base Skill Trees with 4 more to unlock and build around!
Buffs and Curses powerful enough that you actually want to use them
Evolving systems including unlockable talents and skill trees, ascension artifacts, dynamic class naming, advanced gear crafting and more!
Over 100 build defining Mythic Items
Items level with you (for a price); you never have to worry about leveling out of your favorite items
So you don't actually play?
Nope! Your hero fights automatically using a simplified priority system. Your job is the strategy. Of course, if the situation demands it, you can switch to turn-based combat mode. and micromanage difficult battles.
So what does my hero actually do?
The world is full of enemies ready to test your build. Your hero will wander the 3 realms, defeating enemies and powerful bosses. Every zone he beats unlocks the next, with enemies growing more and more powerful!
Push your build as far as it can go.
If it fails… tweak it.
If it succeeds… push it even further.
When you can't push any more, Ascend your hero to imbue him with powerful artifacts from the 8 ancient mysteries and return to the world to push once more.
Tell me more about the character building!
i already told you about that, but sure!
Don't fiddle with little "one point here / one point there" nonsense. Well, you'll have to do that a LITTLE BIT. But on the whole, the system is build with big simple blocks that can combine with complex interactions that evolve as you play.
Carefully crafted mathematical formulas for hit / block / dodge that make sense, resistances and armor all matter.
3 different zone progression types to test your build against, each with their own optimization challenges.
This sounds time consuming...
You can play actively or let the game run while you relax.
Jump in, adjust your build, and watch the results.
It’s the perfect RPG for players who love thinking about builds more than endlessly clicking through combat.
Wait - - - isn't this a flash game?
No, Eternal Quest WAS a flash game. But now it's a steam game! It ascended! I designed and developed this game over 7 years of my life, only to release it just in time for flash to DIE A HORRIBLE STINKY DEATH. Now, 8 years later, it has emerged once more to find its place on Steam... with a few fancy updates!
So how is it different now?
Well, most of the game is the same as it was, doesn't it sound good enough?
No!
Look at all the features I already outlined! Come on, it's a really awesome game!
Still no!
Alright look... the Flash version was built first as a free flash idle game. But then I pivoted to add in microtransactions because that was the dirty trend at the time (and still basically is). But for this Steam Version of the game I gutted the microtransaction system, reoptimized everything around a single non-whale power progression curve, integrated all of the formerly nickel and dimed mechanics into the base game and basically just redesigned things to be a smoother and better experience. I also fixed a few outstanding bugs that have been sitting on my todo list for 8 years.
Huh?
Basically, I took out any PTW stuff (not that there was much) and balanced it so you dont need to spend to win.
But I wanna whale out!
Too bad! This is a game for theorycrafting and optimization, not for spending your way to the top. If you really wanna spend money on this, get the Supporter Pack DLC!
So that's it? You just made everything free and threw it on STEAM?
OMg, look dude... the game was already pretty awesome, and no... I didn't just "throw it on Steam". First of all, I did a lot of work to rebalance things and test the new curves. And putting a game on steam is also a lot of work! There's like a whole dashboard of things to fill out, I had to upload a bunch of different images and cut them myself even though I'm not an artist, and I wrote this whole damn description from scratch!
but if that's not enough, I also integrated cloud saves and added like 60-ish achievements.
I only see 59 achievements
OMg i said "60-ISH". Look, are you gonna get the game or not? The game is awesome and it's not that expensive. If you wanna try it out, go for it. If not, then that's ok it's not for you.
But it's not even out yet!
OK so wishlist it then! And then you can buy it when it's ready.
