Melee Combat That Plays Like a Weapon Duel
In Eternal Hunger, combat is designed to feel closer to a weapon duel than traditional RPG combat.
Instead of characters standing still and trading hits, both the player and enemies act in synchronized turns, and many attacks require predicting where the enemy will move rather than simply targeting their current position.
A well-timed strike can land perfectly.
A wrong prediction may leave you open to counterattack.
Positioning, timing, and reading your opponent are often more important than raw numbers.
Weapon Clashes and Bind Mechanics
Melee attacks are divided into three heights:
High
Mid
Low
When attacks of the same height intersect, weapons can clash and enter a bind.
During a bind, both fighters struggle for control.
Each combat skill has its own initiative value.
The attack with higher initiative gains the advantage, forcing the opponent into a passive state where movement becomes impossible.
These moments create tense exchanges where the momentum of battle can suddenly shift.
