Ember Crown

Ember Crown

About the Game

Just move left and right. Discover different ways to play.

In Ember Crown, all you do is move left and right. No complex button inputs or combos are needed to guide the princess and her companions on their escape, avoid danger, and fight back against their pursuers.

From palace halls to city streets and forests, the environments, enemies, and battle mechanics keep changing. The controls stay the same, but the gameplay doesn't.

Rescue companions. Escape together.

Along the way, you'll meet companions in need of rescue. Save them so they can join your party and continue the journey with you.

Different companions have different abilities. Holy Light, Potion, Arrow Rain, and Entangle add variety to your journey as you escape together.

Four companion abilities: Holy Light, Potion, Arrow Rain, and Entangle.

There are also many Easter eggs waiting for you to discover.

Bonus modes: yes, there are “number gates”

Alongside the chapter-based adventure, you can enjoy bonus modes such as Endless Escape and Siege.

I turned traditional “number gates” into “reinforcements” to better fit the game's setting. The more damage you deal to the enemies behind a reinforcement squad, the more reinforcements you receive.

Real gameplay screenshots of troop reinforcements +16 and firepower reinforcements +466, preserving the original numbers and full squads.

Protect reinforcement squads, gain more troops or greater firepower, and keep your army growing.

  • Troop Reinforcements: Gain more archers and replenish your shield wall.
  • Firepower Reinforcements: Increase the power of each arrow.

Endless Escape: Protect the princess, gather reinforcements, and push for greater distances under ever-increasing pressure.

Siege: Rally your forces, repel the defenders, and enjoy the thrill of a growing army unleashing volleys to breach the gate.

A Message from the Developer

I've always loved the excitement and joy of discovering something unexpected in a game through my own observations and trial and error.

While making Ember Crown, I wanted to explore different kinds of gameplay using nothing more than left-right movement. I also tucked quite a few Easter eggs into the game. What I look forward to most is the moment a player discovers one of them.

I hope this journey of escaping alongside your companions brings you some of the joy of discovering a surprise for yourself.
