DUE TONIGHT

DUE TONIGHT

About the Game

[img][/img]

DUE TONIGHT is a short incremental game about a rubber stamp, a desk and a building full of paperwork.

You start as a night-shift intern in the basement Mailroom. Memos, envelopes and sticky notes crawl across your desk. Move your stamp over them and it comes down on its own. Every approved form pays a fee. The clock on the wall is your shift, and at midnight the shift is over.

Your supervisor wants a quota by the deadline. Pay it and you keep your desk. Miss it and you are fired.

Between nights you spend what you earned: a bigger pad, darker ink, faster hands, a longer shift, a better stamp. Adopt an office policy. Take a call. If the night went well, you can call a coin toss and try to double it.

Pay enough quotas and you get promoted. Every floor is a new desk, new paperwork, a new stamp and a new Performance Review: a boss that walks across your desk and has to be stamped out before the clock runs down.

From the Mailroom to the Cubicle Farm, Middle Management, the Corner Office, the Ministry, the World Registry and finally the Galactic Registry, where the paperwork is planets and the fees have a lot of zeros.

On the third floor you get your first clerk. Then a second. Your team stamps while you stamp, and their desks fill the floor behind you. Train them, buy them better coffee, and later open whole departments.

Getting fired is part of the job. Every career leaves you References, and References buy enamel pins that stay with you forever. The next career starts faster, and the one after that faster still.
