Double Skunk

Double Skunk

About the Game

Cribbage, played straight

Six cards dealt, two to the crib, cut for the starter, peg to thirty-one, then count the show. Fifteens, pairs, runs, flushes, nobs, his heels. Nothing about the base game is invented, and the rival counts as hard as you do.

Turn on Muggins and a miscount costs you. Miss points in your own show and the rival takes them. Catch the rival short and you take theirs.

Then you build

Between hands you put together an engine. Fifty-seven powerups change what a fifteen is worth, what a pair pays, and what a run does to the rival's peg. Twenty-six consumables are rank cards you can lay into a pegging round, or play before the discard to bend a single hand. Ten pegs sit under all of it and rewrite the rules of the run itself.

The board has prizes on it. Land on a tile and it pays gold, levels a powerup, or drops a rank card in your pocket. A shop opens as you go round, buys back what you have outgrown, and the Pedlar has opinions about your money.

The Long Tally

Twenty-one rivals stand between a back-room parlor and the national championship, each with a face, a voice and habits you can learn. Trophies mark every section of the climb. A loss never ends your campaign. Either hold your place and take the rematch, or slide back a spot and win that trophy again. You choose when the campaign starts.

Beat the champion and the ladder keeps going. The Beyond is a climb with no top, played as long duplicate matches against a cast of its own, with a heat meter that leans harder on you every rung.

Weekly challenge

Every week brings one challenge and one deal for everyone. Thirty hands of duplicate cribbage, where every hand is played twice, once from each side, so luck of the deal cancels out. Both builds are fixed, the rival plays at Expert, and the leaderboard ranks how much you won by against everyone who played the same cards.

Play your way

Play the AI at four skill levels, or play a friend online with matchmaking and a match browser. If a match drops, you both come back to the same hand. Set the house rules before the deal: best of three, duplicate, Muggins, the chess clock, powerups and rank cards. Or switch every system off and play cribbage the way your grandmother did.

Fully voiced in English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Italian.

A note on AI-generated content

Double Skunk is made by one person. The character art, music, sound and voice lines were generated with AI tools, then chosen, edited and put together by hand. Nothing is generated while you play. The cribbage rules, the scoring engine and the balance were written by hand.
