Doll Arena
About the Game
Doll Arena is a dark metroidvania with PvP duels, set in the world of Slavic folklore. You play as a red doll with button eyes — a folk guardian doll armed with nothing more than a handful of needles — and that's all you need to survive.
A world of Slavic belief
In Slavic folklore, a motanka is a guardian doll — bound from scraps of cloth and thread, traditionally faceless, made not by sewing but by winding, and hung over a cradle to ward off evil spirits. Our heroine is a dark mirror of that tradition: she has a face, she has eyes — two red buttons — and instead of waiting for evil to wander off on its own, she goes hunting for it, needle in hand. Doll Arena's dark, painterly visuals draw from the same folklore as tales of Baba Yaga and the spirits of the forest — a world where a protective charm and a real threat are separated by a single thread.
A needle you have to fight for
Forget a sprawling arsenal — you get a handful of needles, carried on you at all times. Up close, you stab and parry with them. At range, you throw them to strike before your enemy reaches you. But every needle you throw disappears from your reserve. Run dry, and you're defenseless until you dash in and reclaim the ones already in the air. It's a combat system built on managing a limited resource in real time — and that's exactly what makes every fight, especially in PvP, so tense.
Precision movement that drives exploration
Movement in Doll Arena isn't a side dish to combat — it's the first line of defense. Jumps, dashes, and wall-bounces let you slip between platforms, dodge danger, and reach places that look unreachable at first glance. Mastering these three tools is the foundation both exploration and combat are built on.
Metroidvania: an interconnected world full of secrets
Doll Arena is a metroidvania in the classic sense — every location connects into a single, cohesive map, and each newly earned ability opens a path you couldn't cross before. Exploration, hidden routes, secret rooms, and the satisfaction of finding a shortcut you never knew existed sit at the core of the game's structure, familiar to fans of the genre.
PvP: face your friends
Beyond the single-player mode, where you take on bosses and obstacles solo, Doll Arena features a PvP mode — a direct clash against another player, built on the same rules of precision movement and needle combat. Invite a friend, face off in the arena, and find out who manages their own arsenal better when every thrown and reclaimed needle is on the line.
