About the Game

A new empire, a new beginning

Choose an opening technology, a homeland and a faith, then guide your country through the years. Each run begins with a fresh set of decisions and a different path to shape.

Choose how your country grows

Respond to event cards with policies, research, construction, diplomacy or military action. The event pool includes 1,832 cards, with 163 policy events and 105 construction events. Age and event conditions affect which choices appear, so a single run will not contain them all.

Build a force and fight

Recruit and arrange troop cards before battles. The troop roster features 164 distinct card types and 151 epic characters, each with strengths to consider when preparing your force.

Carry lessons into the next run

Develop talents as you progress, respond to setbacks and see how your decisions shape the record of your reign. When a run ends, begin again with a new set of opening choices.
