About the Game
Descent Below is a 4-player cooperative survival horror game where the fear of the deep blends with paranoia within the team. It's a game about trust, betrayal, and survival in abandoned complexes beneath the ocean.
SETTING
The underwater complex Abyss-9 was built by the GearOcle Corporation under the guise of a subsidiary of the Neptune Syndicate. Officially, the mission is simple: liquidate the rift and eliminate its consequences. But the truth lies deeper. The technologies sleeping in the abyss are far more valuable to the corporation than any human life.
Players begin their expedition on the complex's first level — amidst the power station, residential area, control center, and locked airlocks. Each floor bears the scars of disaster: destroyed sectors, personnel logs, dormant systems that can be reactivated or repurposed. But the deeper you go, the slimmer your chances of returning.
ROLES AND TEAM
Each player selects one of four unique roles:
Engineer — a repair and crafting expert who can build tools for teammates and restore systems from debris.
Scientist — a biochemistry specialist who uses repellents to fend off or lure creatures and creates bio-components to revive allies.
Gunner — a former soldier armed with a harpoon, faster than others, and the only one capable of using the revival kit.
Pilot — operates a scouting drone capable of exploring from a distance, collecting items, and activating mechanisms.
Each role comes with unique gear, a personal story, motives, and shadows from the past. Together they form a team—but trust should be earned, not given.
THE TRAITOR AMONG YOU
In every expedition, one participant may be infected. Their goal is to sabotage the mission and lead the team to disaster. Sometimes they act openly, other times they hide behind the mask of an ally. Your paranoia becomes part of the gameplay.
CORE MECHANICS
Exploration and puzzles — uncover the traces of past events, restore systems, and unlock new sectors.
Limited resources — oxygen, medkits, tanks, and crafting materials.
Atmospheric locations — power stations, residential complexes, abandoned laboratories, hidden ruins, and, of course, the massive underwater rift.
High replayability — random events, dynamic threats, and varied sabotage scenarios.
Interactive environment — lore is embedded in the surroundings: radio logs, interference, scratched messages.
