About the Game

CORE

DEMIURGE is a dashcam based police pursuit game that stamps realistic lightning and handmade car physics on retro 3D with VHS effects, confusing gameplay with real life footage sometimes!

BACKGROUND LORE

Society has been attacked by a unknown parasite that exterminated (almost)all humans and gives life to inanimate things.

Cars are no exception, and the military regime is running out of food, the entity is forced to cannibalize itself and sends some unfortunate cruisers on a daily hellride to destroy other cars and let their flesh be vultured by the organic soil, repeating the cycle.

ACTIVITIES

  • DRESS YOURSELF, BRUSH YOUR TEETH, GRAB THE KEYS AND GET TO THE CAR RIGHT NOW!

  • Okay, now that you are inside, drive it to the metro, and choose a location.

  • Once deployed and a target has been acquired, use whathever you know about offensive and defensive driving strategies to stop someone without getting yourself flattened in the process, or your car too.

  • After delicately taking care of a fleeing suspect and confiscating their numberplates, you will receive credits for feeding your car so it doesnt kill you, but you can also steal valuable goods from the dead suspects, and sell them at your small store, so that you can...like...  buy some food too! Not starving is also welcome!

  • You can request a refueling brake for its purpose, but to also take a trip to a pub, were you can find just about the most insane people possible to sit down, and hear their stories while enjoying a good meal.

PHYSICS

The softer suspension + responsive grip, paired with the bumpy roads and map layouts taken from REAL topographic data of Brazillian suburbs, makes the handling remind you of two things: GTA 4 and Group B Rally.

ART DIRECTION

  • MAPS: Shopping malls, sewage systems, corn fields, destroyed suburbs, just the most unforgiving driving conditions possible with thick fog or smoke, and debri, maintaining high speed is deadly challenging.

  • CARS: Legendary Brazillian cars from 70s, 80s and 90s, all beaten up, and modified with metal bars, stronger engines, sirens, spare parts... All as a mechanism for increasing attack power, or defense.

  • VISUALS: The low-poly styling with crunchy low-res textures are paired with real-life footage lightning and realistic fog, aiming for a dark atmosphere.

  • EFFECTS: Processing layers that pixelate, degrade and noise, all aimed towars a footage-like aesthetic.(ALL CONTROLLABLE)
