Deep Shift
About the Game
About This Game
Deep Shift is an atmospheric underwater station simulation game that combines maintenance, repair, exploration, and the gradual restoration of a forgotten deep-sea facility.
You are transported to the station by trawler and lowered deep beneath the ocean surface in a diving bell. Far below the waves, a massive aging underwater facility waits in complete silence — damaged, partially flooded, without power in many areas, and barely operational.
You take over the shift of a former technician who already abandoned the station. At the beginning, only a small section of the facility is accessible. Your quarters, basic tools, a workbench, and an old diving suit become your starting point. From there, you slowly bring the station back to life piece by piece.
Repair damaged systems, restore power, water, oxygen, and pressure systems, seal leaks, remove corrosion, clean contaminated areas, and reopen sealed sections of the station. Many failures require more than simple repairs — heavily damaged components must be completely replaced.
Major maintenance work requires precise procedures: water or power systems must first be shut down, damaged pipe segments removed with a grinder, and new physical replacement parts transported, installed, and welded or secured into place.
As the facility is restored, new sections of the station become accessible, including flooded corridors, engineering sectors, maintenance shafts, and exterior underwater areas. Equipped with your diving suit, you venture into the dark depths of the ocean to perform external repairs and recover lost parts of the station.
Every repaired system visibly changes the station. Dark rooms come back to life, machinery powers up, lights return, and more sections of the facility become operational again.
Later in the game, companies and research teams begin using parts of the station for their own operations. New crews arrive in supply diving bells, establish work areas, and create new maintenance jobs, damage, dirt, and technical problems that require constant upkeep.
