De profundis 1454
About the Game
De Profundis 1454 is a turn-based tactical game, set in the first year of the war between the Teutonic Order and the Kingdom of Poland. As a player, you lead a group of simple civilians- outcasts, who are trying to survive in the area of several armies, each of which uses scorched earth tactics.
The people you have under your command are not proud knights in shining armor, not mercenaries, dogs of this war, who make a living out of it. Not even brigands, armed and very familiar with violence. A bathouse wench. City executioner. Ratcatcher. A group of street urchins. A nun. Fighting not for a king or a golden coin, but to survive another day, to get another meal.
Use the terrain, your opponent's weaknesses and the strengths of your people to secure a victory, but always remember, that cold, sickness and hunger kill as easily as a sword, and the greatest danger may not always come from the enemy, but from those who are next to you.
A game created by nerds for nerds, in which the reconstruction of buildings and units is based on archaeological and archival research. The unvarnished reality of war seen through the eyes of civilians, a war in which the only victory is survival, and history does not even try to remember the nameless fallen. z
This is not a war for glory.
This is a story about those omitted by history books. Those who lived – and died – in the shadow of great history.
