CubeVerse
About the Game
CubeVerse is the placeholder name for a voxel space sandbox currently in active development. The game combines the intuitive block-by-block freedom with the vehicle construction, physics, and infinite exploration within a massive procedurally generated galaxy containing upwards of 100 million star systems.
A Continuous Voxel Universe
CubeVerse is built around the idea that the universe should be physically traversable at every scale. A player should be able to stand on their homeworld, build a vehicle, fly through the atmosphere, enter orbit, land on another world, and eventually cross the distance between stars without warps, loading screens, or other transitions. The galaxy is deliberately scaled to make this possible while preserving the immense distances of space. Celestial bodies are cubic, allowing planets and moons to remain part of the same one-meter voxel world the player builds within. Rather than hiding this geometry, the game embraces cubes and pixel art as a unified visual identity.
Survival, Construction, and Exploration
Players begin on a procedurally generated habitable world, gathering resources, surviving the environment, and gradually developing more advanced technology. Eventually, ordinary voxel construction expands into physics-based constructs: rovers, aircraft, machinery, rockets, stations, and spacecraft built from the same blocks used for structures and terrain. Progression increasingly determines not simply what the player can own, but where they are capable of going. Nearby moons may require little more than a capable rocket, while distant planets can demand specialized equipment for high gravity, hostile atmospheres, scarce resources, or unfamiliar environments. With enough commitment, players will eventually be able to construct craft capable of traveling between stars.
Player Freedom
CubeVerse is designed around player agency. There should be no single correct spacecraft, base, vehicle, or way to explore the universe. The game's systems provide consistent physical rules and tools, leaving players to decide what they want to build and how they want to overcome the challenges they encounter. Multiplayer is also a core part of the vision. Players, vehicles, constructs, bases, and expeditions are intended to coexist within the same enormous persistent galaxy, allowing the universe to gradually become a place shaped and inhabited by its players.
Development
CubeVerse is in active development, being built in a custom engine written from scratch, allowing its technology to be designed specifically around enormous coordinate scales, seamless procedural generation, voxel terrain, physics constructs, planetary environments, and galaxy-scale multiplayer. The game is currently in pre-alpha development. Many essential mechanics, features, and pieces of content are incomplete or still experimental, and much of what is described here represents the long-term vision for the game. In sum, CubeVerse seeks to capture the scale and beauty of nature, and respect the capability and will of the player to act upon it.
