The success rate of skills is determined by a simple 1D100 downward roll. If the dice show a number equal to or less than the success rate (%) of the skill, it is a success.

Creeping madness

The closer you get to the abyss, the more crisis there is in the protagonist's mind. If your sanity decreases, you may become insane and be unable to act normally.

They may become paranoid, which can affect their communication, or they may become paralyzed by trauma.

Madness comes with great risks, such as penalties on skill checks and forced rewriting of choices.
