City States: Medieval

About the Game

The year is 1110. The world is divided between kingdoms and empires, yet a handful of city-states rise above their size to dominate trade and warfare. City States: Medieval puts you in command of one such power – from European Genoa, Slavic Novgorod, Muslim Granada, to Crusader Tripoli – each with its own gameplay style, unique buildings, unit art, and much more.

At the heart of the game lies your single city. You begin with a large village or the ruins of a fallen stronghold, and expand it into a vast metropolis. Construct hundreds of houses, build wooden walls that can later be reinforced into six layers of massive stone fortifications, and choose from dozens of buildings to expand your economy, military, faith, and trade.

True prosperity comes only through trade. To thrive, your city must establish outposts across the world map, seizing control of twelve vital trade resources. Secure fur in the north, silk and spice in the Holy Land, or other riches in distant regions. These colonies and routes bring wealth but also war – rival powers will contest every step.

Defense is constant. Surrounded by giant kingdoms, your lone city faces relentless attack. City States: Medieval adds strong tower-defense mechanics, where holding your walls is as important as striking out for new colonies.

Your leader is central to every action. The main character must be present to oversee construction, direct defenses, or lead expeditions abroad. Each choice is a gamble – send your hero to distant colonies, or keep him within the city to secure its survival.

City States: Medieval blends medieval city-building with a living world map of trade, conquest, and survival. Every faction plays differently, every city tells its own story, and every decision determines whether your city-state flourishes or falls.
