Greyne awakens from a long slumber to find a world plunged into nightmare. The vile RESERVE and his mysterious accomplice have trapped every inhabitant in an eternal bad dream. Greyne's friends are no longer themselves; their fears and pain have twisted them into terrifying monsters.

But within this despair lies a spark of hope: Greyne discovers that by defeating these monsters, he can free the captured souls. Each conquered boss transforms back and joins him as a playable character with unique powers.
