About the Game

Bonsai Life is a peaceful life-simulation game about bonsai, nature, and choosing a quieter way of life.

Looking for a change, you purchase an old, neglected bonsai nursery and begin the slow process of bringing it back to life. What starts as an overgrown property with only a handful of trees gradually becomes your own thriving nursery — shaped by the bonsai you grow, the gardens you create, and the people you meet along the way.

At the heart of Bonsai Life is the art of growing bonsai. Care for trees throughout their lives by watering, pruning, repotting and shaping them. Watch them grow and change through the seasons, develop your skills, discover new species and eventually create beautiful old bonsai of your own.

The world changes throughout the year. Spring brings fresh growth and blossom, summer fills the landscape with life, autumn transforms the trees with colour, and winter brings a quieter landscape. Changing weather, wildlife, day and night, and a dynamic seasonal soundtrack make each part of the year feel different.

As your nursery grows, so can your surroundings. Restore the property, improve your home, build new bonsai displays and create your own Japanese-inspired garden. There is no single correct way to build it — the nursery gradually becomes a reflection of the trees you choose to grow and the life you choose to create.

Bonsai Life is about taking your time.

Spend a day working on an important tree. Go fishing beside a quiet pond. Sell Bonsai. Talk with the locals, work on your garden, or simply watch the seasons change.
