About the Game

A single-player puzzle game that transforms traditional chess into a minimal, immersive journey. Every move is a step deeper into the world Beyond the Board, where shifting tiles and puzzles reveal the hidden fractures within the game’s very foundations.

During a chess match, a lightning strike disrupts the game, shatters the board and sends all pieces into unknown depths. Left with only a single rook, you must chase the enemy king through this new three-dimensional chess realm, in order to seek answers.

Discover mechanics that bend the rules of chess, from moving blocks to switches and counters. Face enemy pieces with unique behaviours, including dodging attacks, reacting to movement, pattern following, and much more.

As you progress you'll unlock abilities that reshape the board itself, adding new layers to puzzles and exploration. Block moving groups, reveal hidden switches, and bend the Rook’s movement beyond the limits of the above the board.

At the end of each kingdom, a Boss piece awaits. These multi-wave puzzle encounters combine earlier mechanics and abilities at higher intensity, with real stakes as you can get killed. Checkpoints between waves let you restart from the last phase if you fall.

For those who search, hidden paths reveal deeper secrets beyond the board. From self-contained puzzle Chambers to cryptic Runes etched with layers of history, waiting to be uncovered.
