About the Game

What lies behind your facade?

Behind the Screen is a narrative, emotional indie game that sheds light on the invisible gap between appearance and reality. In a world that demands constant availability, perfection, and strength, we accompany 20-year-old Jonas. He tries to manage his daily life while quietly dealing with depression and the scars of his past.

Two Contrasting Worlds

Experience Jonas' divided daily routine in two completely different gameplay styles:

  • Real Life (The Facade): Navigate Jonas' room and make everyday choices. Communicate with family or colleagues via smartphone. But every social interaction costs energy. Can you maintain the facade without letting your willpower drop to zero?

  • The PC Monitor (The Escape): When reality becomes too overwhelming, turn on the computer. Escape into a vibrant world of fast-paced, pixelated retro minigames. A place of distraction and temporary solace – but how long can this escape keep reality at bay?

Key Features:

  • A Touching Story: Accompany Jonas through multiple emotional chapters, ranging from school bullying to the search for professional support.

  • Choices That Matter: Your decisions in real life control Jonas' willpower and influence the suspicion of those around him.

  • Interactive Phone & PC Simulation: Read text messages, answer calls, and balance your emotions in stressful conversations using interactive minigame mechanics to mask your true state.

  • Authentic Origin: Inspired by real-life experiences and anonymous submissions from the community.

  • Immersive Atmosphere: A melancholic synthesizer soundtrack and a stylized retro CRT monitor overlay draw you deep into the world behind the screen.

Important Content Warning:
