Beggar's Road
About the Game
Survive the roads of 1407 Liège in a darkly comedic medieval roguelike of hard decisions and poor judgment.
You're nobody. A beggar. A drifter. A nobody with nothing. You wander the roads from town to town, forest to forest, and forgotten place to forgotten place in a world that is hard, petty, and sometimes silly. Gather poor companions, ration your meager supplies of food and gold, and make tough decisions as you attempt to survive each run.
Medieval engagements inspired by real medieval history: Pigs go to trial, relics are probably false, and a man might try to attack you with a knife over a turnip and think it's totally justified.
Travel a Living Medieval World
Travel from handcrafted locations such as towns, market towns, forests, and ruins within the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. Each journey is an opportunity for new perils, new chances, and new people who you absolutely shouldn't trust.
Make Difficult (and Often Bad) Choices
With every interaction, you'll make decisions. Some will be sensible, some will be moral, and some will be downright stupid. The decisions you make will affect your run, your party, and the mess that will inevitably ensue.
Recruit and Manage Your Party
Assemble a party of beggars, vagrants, and scoundrels. Each will have their own strengths, as well as their own debts, troubles, and shady pasts.
Balance Power Between Factions
Manage the complex relationships between the Bishopric, the Merchant Guilds, and the Bandits:
The Bishopric: power, order, and moral flexibility
Merchant Guilds: wealth, power, and backroom deals
Bandits: freedom, violence, and strong opinions
Support one, anger the others, or try to juggle all three. Carefully.
Survive Each Run
Manage your food, gold, and risks as you travel. Take risks for greater rewards, or play it safe and starve a little slower. Permadeath is a thing, but every run is a new story.
