Backrooms: The M.E.G.

About the Game

You are an explorer for The MEG (Major Explorer Group), and your sole purpose is to study the Backrooms in all their forms, capturing every detail with your camera (F11 in Steam 😉), because the scale and variety of these locations are truly astounding.

Step by step, you venture from the ordinary Level 0 into its mysterious sub-levels: vast, semi-open spaces give way to tight, claustrophobic corridors. The palette around you shifts from soft hues to bold, contrasting patterns, and some rare sub-levels may trigger psychedelic effects — proceed with caution! If you dare to go further, new levels with never-before-seen branches will unfold before you.

Dynamic yet approachable parkour adds variety to your exploration: jumps and balance moves here are safe, since the Backrooms obey their own laws of physics — falls cause no harm, so you can boldly dive into the unknown (but not always🕳️).

You’ll also encounter light, low-stress puzzles that help unlock secret passages and reveal anomalous objects. And the spawn-point selection system ensures that each new session starts you in a different spot, preserving the intrigue and delivering fresh experiences.

The game’s sound design is a true journey between nostalgia and fear. Liminal piano melodies smoothly transition into muted creaks, the rustle of papers, and reverberating footsteps in empty halls. In one moment, the music soothes and evokes warm memories; in the next, it heightens tension and sends your pulse racing.

Hit F11 to snap screenshots and document your work: record anomalies, rare sub-levels, and surreal architectural moments. No hostile entities — just pure liminal spaces, your camera, and the unrelenting curiosity of The MEG.
