About the Game

Autumn's Dungeoneering: The Adventurer's Terrarium

I have always had a dream. Though haven't we all? But the truth is my dream game just doesn't exist. Or there are half done versions.

Kenshi is amazing. But I really don't like wastelands or deserts. Mount and Blade is really cool. But I can't cast spells without mods. Rimworld pawns are neat, but they aren't very conscious, are they?

This is where my game comes in.

I'm not going to lie and tell you I have it all figured out. I'm going to tell you that I have made a lot of progress. My goal is simple on paper, insane to implement in practice. Good thing I am already crazy.

The Adventurer's Terrarium is what happens when an ant colony meets an RPG adventure in a Mount and Blade-like world. With controllable, conscious party members who have personality and make their own choices.

To be more precise, there would be modes. The primary mode is that you would be an ant, an adventurer in this world. The game takes place in Xanrea as a sort of 4x strategy map. Multiple factions, multiple enemy strongholds that grow and expand. They fight each other. There is no main questline to speak of. But as you get stronger and make more friends, you learn and do new things.

Game Modes

RPG Mode

RPG Mode is the basic mode. You create an adventurer and play as them in the world. Think Mount and Blade. You wander, do quests, survive. You have factions, enemies, allies. Different adventurers may party with you. Or don't. They run entirely on behavioral AI and decide what they want to do. You cannot control them. Only yourself. You manage hunger, thirst, sleep by completing quests, selling mob drops, and grouping up with other adventurers to do dungeons. Not everyone will like you.

City Builder mode

City Builder mode is more complex. Have you played Majesty? Basically like that. You run a real town in the game world. Build buildings, hire adventurers staying in your town to do quests. Enemies attack your city. In RPG mode, you can visit your own village. Maybe even control it.

This is a fanatical fantasy. A long shot in the dark. But I truly believe given time I can succeed.

So, what say you, adventurer? Are you finally awake? Maybe, just maybe you're already halfway to Drestor.
