About the Game

AI Society is a civilization simulation game where every character is driven by a local AI model.

Choose your mode:

• In AI Town, build a society full of townsfolk who live their own lives.

• In AI Game Studio, hire an AI dev team, run the company, and play the game they make.

AI TOWN

Create up to 25 unique characters and define who they are:

• Set personality traits; how peaceful, hardworking, extroverted, generous, playful, or dominant they are

• Give them hobbies like fishing, wood carving, or leatherworking

• Write a freeform description to shape their worldview and backstory

• Choose their appearance and gender

Your characters are fully autonomous. They will:

• Find jobs and fill roles in the town's economy based on their personalities

• Earn and spend money, manage hunger, and seek rest

• Form relationships, some warm, some tense, based on their traits and interactions

• Get married and have children to continue their legacy

• Post thoughts, reactions, and confrontations on their own social media

• Fight with characters they despise, and if things go badly, die permanently

• Drop what they're doing to swarm the intruders when bandits raid the town

When a character dies, they're gone. Their job goes unfilled. Their relationships dissolve. They're remembered in the town cemetery, where others may visit their grave. With a revive token, they can be brought back to life.

Level up your town by going on adventures and reaching milestones:

• Play 6 mini-games and fight through 5 tiered dungeons with your strongest characters

• Win rare, epic, and exclusive legendary artifacts that give your characters special perks

• March your whole population into battle against rival towns

• Earn town XP for milestones like surviving your first bandit raid

• Characters who die in a dungeon die for good

Control the town with your god powers:

• Put thoughts in characters' heads

• Force a confrontation or an encounter

• Smite town resources or exile your characters

• Heal characters before dungeon raids

• Pick up characters and drop them anywhere on the map

• Watch them react to your decisions on their social media

AI GAME STUDIO

Play a game made by a studio you run. Your team of AI employees designs it, builds it, markets it, and ships it, and every part of it comes out of their work and your decisions. No two studios make the same game.

The game your team makes:

• A top-down pixel RPG with villages, dungeons, bosses, quests, shops, loot, levels, and gear

• Every quest is completable and every dungeon is beatable

• It keeps growing as your team keeps working, and you can go back in any time to see what's new

Run the company from a retro desktop:

• A dev board, team page, the books, a marketing app, a store page, and a chat app your team gossips on

• Walk around your pixel-art office, sit with people at lunch, and call meetings

• Expand to a bigger office as the studio grows

Hire a small team and keep them happy:

• Programmers, designers, artists, a marketer, an accountant

• Each one has a personality, moods, loyalty, and opinions about you that they'll say to your face

• Make them stay late and they remember it. Miss payroll and their mood and loyalty drop

Point them in a direction, in your own words:

• Tell your team what kind of game you want and they take it from there. Your designer turns it into work, your programmers build it, your artist gives it a look

• Watch tasks move across the board, see what failed and why, and make them try again

• Call meetings where employees report in and pitch ideas. Accept one and it goes on the board

Ship it and face the market:

• Launch on the in-world store in Early Access or at 1.0

• Players buy it and leave honest reviews. A thin game gets "Mostly Negative" and you feel it in the numbers

• Hire a marketer who runs campaigns on their own and asks for your sign-off on big spends

• Cover rent and weekly payroll and watch your runway. Do the books yourself or hire an accountant

AI Society runs entirely on your machine using Ollama that comes bundled in your download. No internet required, no subscriptions or monthly payments, no data sent anywhere. Works with LM Studio. Choose the model that fits your hardware:

• Llama 3.2 1B - Lightweight, runs on almost anything

• Llama 3.1 8B - Best character quality and depth (Recommended)

• Gemma 2 2B - An alternative lightweight option

Every conversation, every social media post, every meeting, every decision your characters make is generated live by the AI model you select.

Note: Linux Users: GPU acceleration works automatically for NVIDIA GPUs.
AMD GPU Users: install Ollama via curl -fsSL | sh for GPU support. Without it, AMD GPUs will run on CPU (slower but functional).
