After the Hero

After the Hero

About the Game

The battle is over. The paperwork survived.

The Dark Lord has been defeated. The Hero waved to the crowd, accepted the songs, and left before anyone could ask who would rebuild the roads.

Congratulations: you are now the Interim Municipal Prefect.

After the Hero is a political management satire about the part fantasy epics usually skip. The realm has been saved, but the province is still full of refugees, burned granaries, unemployed orc veterans, cursed fields, nervous priests, angry guilds, and nobles who believe liberation should include compensation for damaged hedge mazes.

Over a 16-week campaign, you will try to keep a broken municipality alive. Every decision shifts the balance between public order, infrastructure, refugee welfare, noble approval, orc integration, curse containment, political capital, and the treasury. Spend too freely and the budget collapses. Ignore people too long and the streets do. Please note that the streets file complaints faster.

Features

  • A full post-victory fantasy campaign about governing after the final boss is already dead.
  • Political management built around hard tradeoffs, delayed consequences, and very tired clerks.
  • Crises involving refugees, reconstruction, food shortages, cursed land, winter logistics, elections, audits, and heroic public relations.
  • Multiple endings shaped by the institutions, compromises, and disasters you leave behind.
  • A dry, satirical tone where every miracle eventually becomes an invoice.

There are no perfect choices. There are only minutes, ledgers, factions, and the faint hope that the next emergency arrives after lunch.
